Mix It Up: Creating an Exceptional Home Extension
Preserve the original charm of your home while building a standout extension. The transformation of this traditional Bulli beach cottage offers a perfect example, adding an eye-catching and artful extension that blends cohesive mediums against a predominantly white facade.
The renovation includes a double garage on the ground floor, topped with a first-floor addition. The upper verandah and garden are constructed on a Bondek slab, ensuring waterproofing, stability, and breathtaking southeast ocean views.
A standout design feature of this extension is the deep raked truss running from front to back on the first floor. This truss allows for flush windows at both ends, accommodating ducted air conditioning, insulation, and simplifying construction. It achieves the desired raked ceiling without the cost and complexity of rafters and ridge beams

I had worked with Mel and Corey on a previous project so I was super happy to be asked to design an addition for them at Farrell Rd, Bulli. If you’re a Bulli local, no doubt you would have seen their smiling faces around town, they are simply the best couple.
